Don't you wish...

Don't you wish that for every Terrell Owens, Barry Bonds or Bode Miller there was a Jason McElwain? You probably don't know who Jason is and until yesterday, I didn't either.

Jason is the manager for the Greece Athena varsity basketball team in Rochester, NY. He also serves as the teams biggest cheerleader, never missing a practice or a chance to motivate the players.

Oh, and Jason is autistic.

Amazingly, the players on the team and the student body at Greece Athena appear to go against the norm by embracing Jason instead of distancing themselves from him because he is different. They got to know him as a person instead of assuming that he's not worth their time because he's "that autistic kid."

Jason is directly out of the mold of the over-the-top basketball manager that wants desparately to be a part of the team - to suit up just one time. And, last week, that's exactly what happend.

For Senior Night at the school, the coach let Jason dress for the game just to see what it felt like. Nobody ever expected him to actually get to play. Thankfully, near the end of the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand, the coach pointed to Jason and motioned for him to report into the game. Words can't do justice for what happened next. Just watch the video below.
