Here we come, Sox!

OK, Boston. Let's get this straight. All of us here in St. Louis are happy for you. We're happy that you won last night because we hate the Yankees just as much as you all do. It was fun to watch you come back from being down three games to force the Bombers into the biggest choke job ever in professional baseball. We cheered when Curt Schilling hobbled out, bloody sock and all, and shut down the Yanks. All of it was really cute. Really, it was.

Well, all that is over now because the Cards are coming to Fenway.

Oh, sure, the rest of the country will still want to see the Sox win the series and end the curse and destiny blah, blah, blah. All I can say is good luck. Maybe you can finally shake that curse NEXT year.

Does baseball get any better than the last 4 days have been? Walk-off home runs. Extra innings. Two Game Sevens. I'm exhausted.

What a great game tonight. Roger Clemens is on the mound and just shuts the Cardinals down for 5 innings. He held on to a one-run lead like a vice and looked like there was no way he was giving it up. But just like the Cardinals from the rest of the playoffs, they didn't really look worried. Like they were just taking their time and waiting to pick their spot before they pounced.

Then, something happened. Clemens started to look a little winded. He was still throwing darts, but he didn't seem as invincible as he had been. Roger Cedeno gets a hit and ends up at third after a bunt and a ground out. Then a double by Pujols ties the game. Then the first pitch to Rolen ends up over the fence to put the Cards up for good. No panic, just patience, execution and excitement. Simply awesome to watch.

Oh, and the night after he forced a Game 7 with his Game 6 walk-off homer, Jim Edmonds made the greatest catch I have ever seen. Ever.

It feels like it's been forever since the Cards were in the World Series. It was only 1987, but I was only 13 at the time, so this is my first "adult" Series. We've been so close in recent years but I think I had just gotten used to not quite making it. Well, here we are. I'm just thrilled to be in St. Louis to be a part of it all.

I guess it's time to end this. I have to go start saving money for World Series tickets.
